"With Oxygène, kids just love skiing!"
For safety and maximum progress, we strongly recommend full day lessons for your children. At the end of a week of ski lessons, each child will receive a free report card and a medal corresponding to his level.
Please see our child safety page to ensure a stress free holiday!
Snowbears - 3 years (mornings only) My first time on skis in an enclosed, entertaining and perfectly safe area, equipped with a “magic carpet” (la Plagne). By the end of the week I should be able to slide around on my skis, manage to stay upright and change direction in the snowplough position.
Snowman - 4 to 7 years For absolute beginners. Start off on flat nursery slopes and progress towards using the drag-lift, then towards using the chairlift by the end of the week. Practise simple turns in the snowplough position and manage to stop, using snowplough.
Premier Ski - 8 to 12 years (nursery slopes and green runs) I can use the ski lift with my instructor. I can ski straight down a gentle slope and stop on my own. I can get my skis on and off by myself. I can do simple linked turns (with or without slalom cones).
Cristal - 8 to 12 years (1 – 2 weeks’ experience, green and easy blue runs) I can snowplough, stop and start to turn on easy green and blue runs. I am learning to control my speed. Within a few days I will start to use a draglift or chairlift.
Bronze (1 - 3 weeks’ experience, green and blue runs) I can do elementary turns on green and blue runs. I can side-slip across a slope. I ski all blue runs with ease. I manage to control my balance on slightly bumpy runs. By the end of the week I will have learnt how to use my poles correctly.
Silver (4 – 6 weeks’ skiing experience, blue and easy red runs) I do parallel, linked turns on smooth and bumpy runs. My turns are neatly finished in a side-slip.
Vermeil (6 - 9 weeks’ skiing experience, all blue and red runs) I can do short and medium linked turns. I can easily stop whenever and where ever I want, keeping my skis parallel. I am learning to do short carved turns.
Gold (8 – 10 weeks’ experience, red and black runs) I am learning to link short and long turns at an even and balanced pace. I can ski bumps and red runs are no longer a mystery to me! I can now manage perfect short, carved turns. I am learning to ski on all types of snow comfortably.
Diamond (11 – 14 weeks’ skiing experience) I am very comfortable on all types of slopes. My turns are now expertly practised on all runs. I have very good speed control and am quite good on bumps.
Steep ‘n Fast (from 12 years)** Great for teenagers to start adventure skiing! Initiation or perfection on boarder cross, speed test at the end of the week, bumps, snowpark and initiation to freestyle. Technique control on steep slopes, possible video correction. Initiation to powder skiing (subject to adapted conditions).
Teenagers’ group (13-18 years, 3 afternoons, Val d’Isère only) Minimum level required: parallel skiing on black runs. Possible activities: snowpark, freeride, slalom, racing
Please note: The above are general guidelines based on average levels of experience. It is very important to start off in a group corresponding to your level. Should your level not quite correspond to the group you start off in, you will automatically be moved to a group more adapted to you. This decision remains at the instructor’s discretion. We try to avoid situations where you might lose your confidence on the first day.
